Homeward Bound at Deer Valley Resort winds around the back of the resort, from Bald Mountain over to Flagstaff Mountain. Its beginner-level, meandering ways provide 360-degree views of the Wasatch – not to be forgotten. Check out the sign at the top to help you identify the impressive peaks, www.deervalley.com.
2.
Park City Mountain Resort’s Mel’s Alley, Hidden Splendor, Powder Keg and Assessment all live in a gladed pocket on the mountain that’s pretty, pretty, pretty. Especially with powder on the trees. All intermediate runs, access them from the Silverlode “Six Pack” and do laps, www.parkcitymountain.com.
3.
Upper and Lower Boa at The Canyons provides a nice long look at The Canyons’ beautiful peaks, glades and backcountry. It winds leisurely around the east side of the Resort. An intermediate level run, accessed by the Condor Express chair, www.thecanyons.com.
4.
You can’t beat the views for cross-country skiers at the “White Barn” (part of our town’s preserved open space). The 10-kilometer course is operated by White Pine Touring. Stop at their rental center at Highway 224 and Kearns Boulevard, www.whitepinetouring.com.
5.
Also for cross-country skiers, the section of Rail Trail from Promontory (near Home Depot off exit 2 on Highway 40), heading toward town is pretty spectacular. Look at those mountains!
