Making A Difference

The Park City Foundation

Former three-term mayor, Brad Olch, calls the Park City Foundation “a labor of love.” “We raise money, then turn around and give it back,” Olch explains. As a community foundation, the organization is working to build an endowment, but currently funds are distributed at the discretion of the various donors. Both the National Ability Center and the Park City Performing Arts Foundation have received funds from the Park City Foundation, and the group is currently trying to help raise sponsorship money for Park City’s new ice rink at the Quinn’s Recreation Center.
Olch notes that the Foundation can act as an umbrella for donors seeking to establish a way of giving to the community without having to go through the lengthy process of creating their own family fund.

To become a donor or for more information, contact Brad Olch at 435.649.8352 or at the Park City Foundation, PO Box 681499, Park City, UT 84068.

Park City/Summit County Arts Council

With the goal of connecting the community with the arts, the Arts Council exists to nurture and support local artists and cultural organizations. The Arts Council partners with local cultural organizations to assist with grants or other fundraisers. In addition to working with events like the Kimball Arts Festival and Sundance Film Festival, it also helps bolster newer organizations, such as the Park City Literary Festival, which débuted in September 2005.

The Arts Council also works with Park City and the Chamber/Bureau to promote cultural tourism. For more information, contact the Arts Council Director, Kathy Hunter, at 801.244.9550 or visit www.pcscarts.org.

The Underdog Foundation

Formed in 2005 by Chappie Lehman, Penny Lehman Kinsey and Derrick Kinsey, (owners of the Blind Dog Restaurant & Sushi Bar and Deep Blue Seafood), The Underdog Foundation hosts the Culinary, Wine and Ski Classic, February 2-6, 2006.

The funds raised will be granted to local programs for youth education, arts, advocacy, and athletics. The Underdog Foundation selects grantees in October so that patrons of the event will know where the funds generated will be going.

For more information, contact The Underdog Foundation at 435.615.7900 or www.theunderdogfoundation.org.
