5 Great Summer Adventures for Kids

1. The Canyons offers summer camp, gondola rides, mountain biking, hiking and free outdoor concerts (thecanyons.com). Park City Mountain Resort offers an Alpine Slide, Zip Rider, kiddie rides, mini golf and more, lift-served mountain biking and scenic rides (parkcitymountain.com). Deer Valley Resort offers lift-served mountain biking and hiking, Kids Adventure Camp, and a slew of outdoor summer concerts (deervalley.com).
2. The Norwegian Outdoor Exploration Center offers a variety of camps and activities for children ages 6 to 17. Programs include all sorts of in-nature events, including river rafting, hiking, horseback riding and more (www.outdoorcenter.org).
3. Both Deer Valley Resort (deervalley.com) and The Canyons (thecanyons. com) offer terrific kids’ summer camp programs. Park City Recreation (parkcityrecreation.org) and Basin Recreation (basinrecreation.org) also offer a full array of day camps and sports camps.
4. Each Wednesday afternoon, mid-June through October, a Farmers’ Market is held in The Canyons’ Cabriolet parking lot. Live music, snow cones and crafts make it very kid-friendly. Sunday mornings mid-June through September, the Park Silly Sunday Market offers crafts, artists, live music, food and farmers’ market items on lower Main Street (parksillysundaymarket.com).
5. City Park (parkcityrecreation.org) offers a playground, playing fields, and volleyball courts; Trailside Park (basinrecreation.org) offers two playgrounds, playing fields, volleyball courts, a bike park and a dog park; and Willow Creek Park offers a playground, basketball courts, tennis courts and volleyball courts (basinrecreation.org).
