5 Great Road Bike Trips
Editor’s Note: Grab a map and great advice at any of our local bike shops, such as White Pine Touring (1685 Bonanza Dr), Jans (1600 Park Ave) or Cole Sport (1615 Park Ave). And remember our town motto: SHARE THE ROAD (and be careful out there).
1. Everyone loves to ride their road bikes on Old Ranch Road, five miles long one way. Look out for cows and the sprinklers in the alfalfa fields.
2. Chalk Creek Canyon in Coalville. Park near the County Courthouse and head up from there.
3. A truly terrific loop: start at Home Depot, take the frontage road toward Highway 248, follow the paved bike path that cuts under 248 and leads you all the way through Park City, back out of town to Old Ranch Road to Trailside Drive and back to Home Depot.
4. Don’t forget the paved bike paths all through town. Staying off the road is a beautiful thing.
5. Best cocktail ride: Ride up Royal Street in Deer Valley to Silver Lake and enjoy lunch at Royal Street Café. Don’t come down if you drink too many mojitos.
