Five Great Summery Sips
It’s that time of year when warm mountain breezes prompt us to search out the ultimate light, tasty cocktail. Maybe you’re looking for something new, with a citrus flair. Lucky for you! Several Park City dining establishments have done the work for you. Here are a few of our favorites (possibly soon to be yours, too!)
1. Wahso’s Mojito Sake-tini
An Asian twist on a Cuban classic! This refreshing cocktail is excellent for sipping on a warm afternoon while you are enjoying the Wasatch Mountain countryside. The freshness of the lime and mint awaken the senses, while the sake is smooth, allowing you to relax.
3 oz. “Junmai-shu” sake
6-8 fresh mint leaves
3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
3/4 oz. mint-infused simple syrup
1 1/2 oz. soda water
1 c. of crushed ice
Combine ingredients in a martini shaker. Shake and serve into a large martini glass full of crushed ice. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
2. Royal Street Café’s Blushing Gander Martini
This fruity specialty truly embodies the “Deer Valley Difference” with a kick. We find that it’s best enjoyed in the sunshine on Royal Street Café’s scenic deck.
1 oz. Grey Goose Orange Vodka
1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
Splash of cranberry juice
Use a shaker to mix ingredients, strain into
glass and garnish with a lime.
3. Shabu’s Wild Ginger Martini
The beauty of this cocktail is its simplicity. The Wild Ginger Martini is not-too-sweet but oh-so-smooth.
2 oz. Grey Goose Vodka
1 tsp. fresh ground ginger
2 tsp. simple syrup
Place the ginger root and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker and muddle them together. Add ice and vodka, shake, and then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with pickled ginger and a lime twist.
4. Chimayo’s “House” Sangria
This fruity and refreshing drink is great for summer parties, and its festive presentation adds to any celebration.
1 bottle of light bodied, but fruity red wine (such as a California Pinot Noir)
4 oz. Captain Morgan’s spiced rum
10 oz. fresh pineapple juice
6 oz. fresh orange juice
12 oz. Sprite
1 lemon
1 lime
1 orange
Combine all liquid ingredients into a large pitcher. Slice the lemon, lime and orange into “rings” or discs and place into the pitcher of sangria. Refrigerate for many hours, and enjoy when chilled! Serve in a large wine glass over ice.
5. 350 Main’s Jupiter Cosmopolitan
Named after Park City Mountain Resort’s highest peak, this cocktail is a tasty pick-me-up after a day in the mountains and was recently named “Best Cocktail in Park City.” The infused flavored vodka paired with pomegranate juice gives the Jupiter Cosmopolitan that extra award-
winning flair.
1 oz. orange vodka
1/2 oz. unflavored vodka
1/2 oz. Chambord
1/2 oz. pomegranate juice
1/2 oz. orange juice
