Shopping

Park City’s most established shopping district, Historic Main Street, is a blend of familiar favorites—many of which graced Park City when skiing was just taking off—and newer boutiques that bring an expanded selection of souvenirs, housewares and clothing to the former mining town. Art galleries offer everything from Western-themed art to Russian masters. T-shirt shops help find the humor in everything from Park City’s geography to its penchant for extreme sports. Interior designers can help decorate a new home in town or give a finishing touch to the one far away. Grab an ice cream cone for now and some fudge for later or browse through the writings of local and international authors while making friends with a gregarious feline.

The Park City Farmers Market at The Canyons Resort cabriolet parking lot is one venue where farmers and artisans gather to offer the fruits, vegetables, flowers and breads of their labors. Rain or shine, farmers and vendors from around the state come every Wednesday afternoon through October to sell fresh foods and homemade products. Other farmers and craft markets appear as the season continues, but the Park City market is among the most popular in the area. The Canyons also hosts Saturday night Artisans Markets in conjunction with their Saturday night concert series.

Discount shopping reigns supreme just off the Interstate at the Tanger Outlet Center, where large chains of clothing, sneaker and china manufacturers sit beside the local animal adoption center and one-of-a-kind print shop. Two levels of buildings make this outdoor mall a comprehensive assortment of first-rate shopping at discounted prices.

One of the newest shopping centers is in the Redstone Towne Center, where everything from books, jewelry and organic produce to interior designers and housewares can be found. Many of the stores are owned and run by local owners, giving a posh look to homey and unique businesses. This area, along with the surrounding development and redevelopment, is only just beginning to take off, but the mixture of chain and mom-and-pop shops already lend an eclectic flavor to the area.

One of Park City’s best-kept shopping secrets lies in the Prospector Square area of town—sometimes known as the NoMa (North of Main) District. In Prospector Square, everything from bed sheets to canine couture to antiques is within walking distance. Some of the freshest seafood wholesalers, restaurants and food service places make their home in this corner of town. Services such as car washes, package shipping, photo development, dry cleaning and laundry facilities help to combine everyday chores with fun shopping.
