Randy Barton named Professional Citizen of the Year!

For Immediate Release: August 21, 2012

The Egyptian Theatre proudly congratulates Theatre Director, Randy Barton, on being named the 2012 Park City Rotary Club Professional Citizen of the Year!

This award comes in recognition of Randy's tireless efforts in steering the Egyptian Theatre away from financial disaster.  The Theatre now continues as a vibrant community entertainment venue and a sustainable non-profit organization.

"I am certainly honored with the Rotary Club's selection, but I must acknowledge that the success of the Egyptian Theatre's turn-around is due to our board of trustees, staff and incredible supporters, especially The Pharaoh Club. The Theatre has been transformed by The Pharaoh Club and their financial support.  This idea of a social club made up of contributors was put into place three years ago - we now have over 250 couples and individuals as members.  Due to their amazing support, we have been able to build a wonderful staff, with whom I'd like to share this recognition," Barton said.

"My ideas are like my children - original and mine - created and shaped by me. The Pharaoh Club is unique to our theatre, and by building the club, we have been able to dig out from deep debt and are now able to fill the stage weekly with wonder!  We now provide live shows for all types and tastes on our intimate stage year round."

Barton would especially like to thank all the fine business partners who contribute to the theatre and make The Pharaoh Club possible.  These include The Sundance Film Festival, Southwest Airlines, Montage Deer Valley, Canyons Resort, Stein Eriksen Lodge, Silver on Main, High West Distillery, Hotel Park City, Promontory Golf Club and Red Ledges.  "The benefits our partners donate to us allows our donors to receive so much in return for their support of our 501 c(3) non-profit organization, " Barton explained.

In addition, Randy wants to thank The Save Our Stage Foundation, Summit County RAP and Restaurant Tax, 350 Main and The Spur - our official Restaurant and Club Sponsor, Park City Municipal, all the many foundations and organizations that support us, and most importantly,  our patrons that buy tickets and fill the seats.

It must be mentioned that Randy has been deeply involved in creating many events and organizations in Summit County, past and present, that effect the lifestyle of our county. These  include: Faces Piano Bar, Who's Art, Video Theatre - Lordy Lordy and Rembrandt, The Sconecutter, The Sunday Smorgasbord on KPCW, The Wooden Dog Concert Series, Park City Faces and The Mountain View on PCTV, Mountain Town Stages (now Mountain Town Music), The Cow Ballet, Music Makers, The Majestic Jester Royal Ruler of Fun, Local Wonders of the World and The Park City Divas, The Local View on KPCW, My Inbox News - Online Video News, as well as contributions as a performer on the Egyptian Theatre stage.

Ultimately, Randy says he is most looking forward to being the Grand Marshall of the Miners Day Parade September 3rd, as part of the recognition he receives with this award. As everyone in Park City knows, Randy Barton loves a parade!
