Park City's Egyptian Theatre Announces the Opening of Encore Studios
The Egyptian Theatre has opened Encore Studios-Classes for the Stage, under the direction of Ginger Bess Simons. Encore Studios offers private voice lessons, improv comedy, audition preparation, and acting classes for adults. All classes take place in the Egyptian Studios, located at 345 Main Street, under the Main Street Mall in Park City.
Encore Studios seeks to expand the performance-based classes the Egyptian Theatre offers to area residents and visitors. The Egyptian's popular YouTheatre program caters to students aged 5-18, but there is little offered locally for adults. Encore Studios courses are available both for those eager to get on stage and those who simply hope to improve their singing-in-the-shower skills. The idea behind the program is to help adults develop their presentation skills to take them as far as they want to go. All Encore Studios students will have the opportunity to perform on the world class Egyptian Theatre stage in a showcase at the end of their course.
Ginger explains her enthusiasm for the classes offered through Encore Studios. "Education involving the arts is such a passion of mine. One of my favorite dance teachers told me 'If you can walk you can sing, if you can talk you can dance.' We all have the ability to learn to perform. I want our students to feel like this is a safe place to explore. By the end of the course they will come to know themselves better and have developed the confidence to perform on stage. Something they may not have thought possible before."
Randy Barton, Egyptian Theatre Manager, explains why the Egyptian is expanding its course offerings, "We have always offered Youtheatre but never classes for adults. Since we have one of the finest live performance stages anywhere, and we consider ourselves a community-based venue, why not expand our efforts and offer classes for the stage - for adults?"
Encore Studios is currently accepting requests for private voice lessons, which are scheduled mutually between the student and Voice Coach, Ginger Bess Simons. Group classes are scheduled to begin this summer and run for six-weeks each from June 11-July 26. Course descriptions can be found on line at www.parkcityshows.com/class.
