The burger trio comprises lamb (with carrot and raisin slaw), beef (with truffle salt and arugula), and turkey (with cranberry relish), making it a great way to sample a variety of local organic meat. Trout, game hen, a bourbon-brined heritage pork chop, braised lamb shanks, fall squash risotto, and other dishes are complemented by fresh salads. The earthy but elegant interiors of stone, wood, and glass are calming, but the exhibition kitchen is exhilarating, allowing the food to take center stage, as it should.

Talisker on Main • click here for menu
515 Main St. • Park City, UT 84060 • 435-658-5479
While its storefront exterior hints at this eatery’s former life as a butcher shop in the late 1800s, the main dining room of Talisker on Main features a gleaming open kitchen, black-and-white floor tiles, vintage chandeliers, and an original tin ceiling. Diners luxuriate on large upholstered chairs in the 42-seat dining area. Classic American favorites abound, but with some upscale twists. The menu changes daily, but if they’re available, try the lobster hush puppies with sweet pepper salad, fines herbes, and paprika butter. And you can’t go wrong with the melt-in-your-mouth buttermilk chicken with honey butter biscuits, black-eyed peas, and greens, or the roasted Brussels sprout salad with pomegranate, pancetta, and hazelnuts. Vegetarians will love the eggplant and onion tart, with mushrooms, barley, and tahini mousseline. But the best approach to dining here may be the four-course chef’s tasting menu—capped by one of the exquisite desserts.

Park City Mountain Resort • 435-615-YURT (9878)
Dinner at The Viking Yurt at Park City Mountain Resort is truly a unique experience. A snowcat-pulled sleigh (outfitted with warm blankets) draws guests up a ski run at Park City Mountain Resort through aspen and conifer groves and views of the starry skies. Inside the yurt (at 9,500 feet!), long wooden tables set with pewter dinnerware and candles, a roaring fire, and live musical entertainment on the baby grand piano set a Scandinavian tone for an elegant five-course dinner. Starting with glögg (a hot, nonalcoholic, berry-based drink spiced with cardamom, nutmeg, and cinnamon), the meal progresses with roasted red pepper soup, aquavit-cured salmon salad, braised Kobe short rib, a cheese and fruit course, and chocolate cardamom pot de crème with berries. Starting last winter, the yurt opened for lunch as well. It’s a great place to pull off the slopes and enjoy a buffalo brat with sweet onion jam, a cup of curry tomato coconut soup, a mouthwatering St. Andre grilled cheese sandwich with arugula and prosciutto, beer and wine, and, of course, the house-made strudel with warm vanilla sauce.
