The centerpiece of the luxurious St. Regis Deer Crest is the J&G Grill, named for famed chef Jean Georges Vongerichten, who created the menu here as a selection of the greatest dishes from his portfolio of domestic and international restaurants. With its exhibition kitchen, double-sided wood-burning fireplace, quartz stone walls, walnut beams, and beautiful mountain views through oversize windows, the setting is impressive. The prices are Deer Valley-esque, but the buzz around town is that the food is worth it. You can’t go wrong with the butternut squash soup with oyster mushrooms and chives; the house-made pizzas (try the black truffle and fontina cheese); or the pork chop with chili glaze, braised red cabbage, and Parmesan grits. In the French tradition, there is also a prix fixe menu, along with several signature tasting menus. Stop into the sexy wine vault for a glass and an appetizer before dinner and an apéritif afterward.
