ART MEETS FASHION 2009!
The successful premiere of Art Meets Fashion (AMF) took place at The Yard in Park City on October 17th. The intimate event, presented by (a)perture marketing and Park City Magazine was attended by over 200 guests. This year, local Park City charities Peace House and Friends of Animals Utah were selected as the beneficiaries. The evening commenced with a cocktail hour sponsored by Wasatch Beers and Southern Wine and Spirits with an exclusive performance by local band, The Black Hens. Jean Louis and Marilyn Darby whipped up a delectable spread of skewered meat, fine cheeses, fruit, and a selection of sweet treats.
A silent art auction featured work from Phoenix Gallery, Gallery Mar and Meyer Gallery along with a display of vintage Nicole Miller designs. Former Spiro artist, Benjamin Wiemeyer and fellow artist, Gailon Justus customized the walls of the Yard with their one of a kind graffiti design. Guests purchased raffle tickets for unique items, including a custom cigar box purse, courtesy of Annie McGonigal, Silpada Jewelry and a spa package from Red Mountain Resort and Spa.
Local dancer, K.D. Rhodes performed an interpretative dance on stage as guests took their seats in anticipation of the runway fashion shows, introduced by Mayor Dana Williams. Local fashions were showcased from Flight, Olive and Tweed, Whimsy, Burns Cowboy Shop, Mary Janes, Hildas, Cake and Convictions with a novelty doggy couture element from Lucy Has Everything.
The evening closed with dancing to sets by local DJ Omar and prop inspired photos, courtesy of Shutterbooth. (a)perture and Park City Magazine would like to thank their sponsors Lunatic Fringe, Urban Talent, The Yard, Sticky Wraps, Spingo, Wasatch AV, Park City Voyeur, PCTV and Skull Candy. A special thank you goes out to the many many volunteers who contributed to the success of the event.
