2012 Summer Concerts at Canyons Resort

CANYONS DOUBLES UP ON 2012 SUMMER CONCERTS

Friday Night Beats & BBQ to complement Saturday Concert Series;
Lukas Nelson, Truth & Salvage Co. and The Wood Brothers among Saturday headliners

PARK CITY, Utah (For Immediate Release) – Canyons Resort, Utah’s largest four-season summer and winter resort destination, today announced 16 free summer concerts beginning with an encore show from  The Soulistics (July 3) and culminating with The Wood Brothers (September 1).

Music has long been a staple of summer at Canyons Resort, but with the addition of seven Friday Night Beats & BBQ shows, this season promises to be among the best ever.

Friday Night Beats & BBQ will take place at the Village Stage between Canyon Mountain Sports and Umbrella Bar.  Talisker executive chef John Murcko and his team will load up the barbeque with locally sourced products like Summit County Beef and Niman Ranch meats, while a variety of regional artists pump out blues, rock, jazz, folk and reggae music.

As in past years, national touring acts will play from the Mountain Stage on Saturday nights.  Noteworthy performers include:

  • Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real.  Music icon Willie Nelson’s son leads a band on the rise.  POTR appeared on Late Night with David Letterman last month to kick off their 2012 tour.
  • Truth & Salvage Co.  The veterans of the Bonaroo Music Festival bring their Black Crowes-inspired rock and country sound to Canyons.
  • Dumpstaphunk. Aaron Neville’s son, Ivan, drives the band that The New York Times calls “the best funk band in New Orleans right now.”
  • The Wood Brothers.  A National Public Radio favorite in the folk and bluegrass arena, The Wood Brothers close the season on Labor Day weekend.

All concerts are free of charge for the public to attend.  For the safety and enjoyment of all of our guests, we kindly remind guests that dogs (with the exception of service dogs) are not allowed in the concert venue.  Blankets, picnics and chairs are allowed starting at 4:00 p.m. on concert days.   Support Canyons’ sustainability initiatives by using carpools, bicycles and public transportation.

Reservations are accepted at Canyons’ award-winning restaurant, The Farm, located just steps away from either stage.  Umbrella Bar will also be open serving signature burgers and a variety of domestic and international beers.

For Saturday night concerts at the Mountain stage, low back chairs are allowed, but camping chairs, chairs with sharp legs and chairs with greater height than 9” are not allowed.  Chairs meeting the height requirements are available for purchase at Canyon Mountain Sports.

A complete list of concert performers follows.
