11/10/08Tennis Anyone?
As Tennis Operations Supervisor, one of my jobs is to run all of the tournaments at the Racquet Club. The Park City Racquet Club is the host of both the Men's National 45s, November 10-14, and the Men's National 40s in April. These tournaments are fun to run because the guys are tremendous players, and are general, great guys. Many of the players in the tournament are former touring pros, and some still earn their living through tennis. We offer over $3,000 in prize money for this tournament. One of the most entertaining parts of planning for this event is the seeding process. For most local tournaments, the computer tells you who to seed, so there is no subjective input on the part of the tournament director. 11/02/08Weekend Warrior
I lined up on the front row with my baby, Blake, and sized up my competitors including last year's winner. He was pushing a 'triple.' His jogger plus the three kids were easily over 100 pounds. I was running with a new ultra-light jogger, stripped of all extra toys, bottles and diapers. The race start time was perfect, after breakfast but before nap-time. My 9-month-old boy was all smiles and ready to go. Bang! The starting gun went off and we sprinted downhill. Forty-five pounds of stroller plus baby can really move when gravity is giving you a hand! 10/20/08From Yoga Skeptic to True BelieverLiving in Park City, it's almost a prerequisite to play outdoors. Having moved here five years ago, I've fulfilled this requirement (and then some) with mountain biking, hiking, skate skiing, snowshoeing and of course, downhill skiing.
