Park City At Play

A New Adventure

A New Adventure

Another amazing season has completed, filled with some serious ups and downs, World Cup podiums, a new jump, a few crashes and everything that comes along with making sure to be completely prepared for next year's Olympic season. I am now in Park City and back in the gym with our strength coach Tschana, but in a week will be taking a bit of time out of the gym before what will be a very busy summer. The most exciting part of my spring is that I finally have the amazing opportunity to participate, hands on with the organization "Right to Play"; to interact with and make a difference for some of the world's most disadvantaged children. To me, this upcoming trip is part of the full expression of who I strive to be as an athlete, and I couldn't feel more honored to be one of the athletes selected.

Of course there is so much to do this spring to prepare for the Olympics next season, but allowing my body to physically recover from a hard season is a very important aspect of that. And to me, what better way to spend that time than by learning about the world helping our children who have not been granted the opportunity to grow and develop through normal everyday "kid" activities like playing. In case you are new to the organization; Right to Play is an international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play programs to improve health, develop life skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world and I now have the profound privilege of being a part of one of these programs.

In just two weeks I will be traveling with three other US Olympians to Jordan to learn about and help to deliver what Right to Play calls their "Sport for Development" programs. I feel so privileged to be a part of such an impactful program and to have the opportunity to give disadvantaged children the chance to be kids, to play, to grow and learn, to develop health and life skills vital to successful futures and simply to have fun.

I will have much more information about the trip later this week and can't wait to share it with all of you through blogs and photos, so check back soon to follow my travels through the school systems and youth programs of Amman, Aqaba, Petra and Wadi Rum. Thanks as always for reading, I appreciate all of your support more than you could ever know.
